Founded in 2008 by Calvin Snowden Jr. and Deidre Downes, BDFS's philosophy is based on "Building the Best." We approach every project by building strong relationships with our clients, assembling capable teams to produce quality work, and contributing daily to making Philadelphia the best city it can be.



Calvin R. Snowden Jr. is a Philadelphia-based entrepreneur, engineer, and the Founder + Managing Partner of BDFS Group. With more than two decades of professional experience, Calvin’s storied career encompasses biotech, real estate, and construction management. He started his career in pharmaceuticals in 1998, overseeing global manufacturing initiatives for Centocor and its parent company, Johnson & Johnson. Calvin worked in various capacities throughout his 16 years in the field, including project management, global partnership support, and new product planning. The experience would lead him to launch his own biotech project, CBS BioPharma, in 2019. The startup specializes in contract bio pharmaceutical manufacturing and advocacy for diversity in the life sciences.



Tracy Lopez is a seasoned Office Manager with over 10 years of extensive experience. With a focus in human resources, Tracy’s attention to detail was honed as an event logistics and program coordinator for one of the largest investment companies in the country where she coordinated planning for multiple managers simultaneously along with recruiting and program specific events. Tracy is an enthusiastic and innovative professional who thrives on bringing organization and structure to all of her endeavors.



Kareef McCrae leads key projects for BDFS. Prior, he honed his skills with several construction firms including Intech, Domus + Turner. Kareef has extensive background in electrical contracting with his years at Larry C McCrae Inc. as an estimator and senior project manager. A Temple grad and Philadelphia native, Kareef brings a steeped knowledge of the city to his projects and ensures on-site efficiency with his multi-disciplinary construction + trades expertise.



Joanne Chao is a seasoned technology leader and recipient of the Women in Cable Technology Rising Leadership award. She serves as the board chair of Vocatio Career Prep High School and is an experienced technology practitioner focused on using the latest technology to enhance organizational process efficiency. Joanne has held various senior leadership positions at several top Fortune 500 companies, where she led and mentored technical teams in new product development and became renowned for creating and fostering a culture of innovation and continuous improvement. She holds a master’s degree in computer science and certifications in Six Sigma and project management. At BDFS, Joanne is responsible for leading and overseeing technology, driving innovation, and providing strategic direction for technology initiatives.



Phillip Scott is a proactive and results-driven project manager with extensive experience in residential and commercial construction projects. With effective experience in regulatory compliance, financial oversight + time management, Phillip skillfully brings his competencies in personnel management, project coordination, and effective communication between on-site and off-site teams to BDFS’s varied projects. He holds a Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration from Florida Atlantic University.
